The Athenaeum

A beautiful and historic Grade 1 listed venue in the heart of Bury St Edmunds.

The Athenaeum, purpose-built in the early 18th century as a space for the community to gather to play cards, read books, attend parties and generally have a good time – which is not so different from its use today.

Our venue was re-named The Athenaeum in 1854, and is a Grade I listed building.

We have a range of spaces available for private hire, ideal for a range of corporate and private events.

Ideal location in the heart of Bury St Edmunds.
